Christoph Niemann

I’m a big fan of the work of illustrator Christoph Niemann. I first encountered his work when I downloaded his Petting Zoo iPad app for my son. He has a playful sense of humour and wonderful way of viewing the world. He also talks about his creative process extremely well. I’d encourage everyone to watch his episode of the fantastic Netflix series Abstract if they can. Below is a 20 minute presentation Niemann gave for Adobe’s 99u Conference on How to Overcome the 3 Fears Every Creative Faces.

Art’bracadabra animation series

“Discovering the magic ingredients of the art movement”

Art’bracadabra is a absolutely stunning series of animations by French artist / designer Raphaël Garnier
produced for the Pompidou Centre’s web TV channel. The short animations share some of the fundamental elements of visual art starting with the dot and looking at line, form, material, tools, colours and so on. I’d highly recommend watching all 10 episodes on Raphaël’s Vimeo channel.

Indian hand painted type

I recently came across this great project from graphic designer Hanif Kureshi. The beautiful art of sign painting in India is threatened due to the much cheaper alternative of digital printing. Kureshi started this project in an attempt to champion and preserve some of the many incredible hand styles that were once commonplace across India.
