Irish artist Paraic Mc Gloughlin used thousands of Google Earth images to create this mesmerising video. There’s a nice interview with Paraic about his inspiration and process here: https://directorsnotes.com/2018/04/04/paraic-mcgloughlin-arena/
A new film by Daniel Savage commissioned by Al Jazeera on the philosopher Marshall McLuhan.
“It’s been roughly 30 years since the desktop computer revolutionized the way the graphic design industry works. For decades before that, it was the hands of industrious workers, and various ingenious machines and tools that brought type and image together on meticulously prepared paste-up boards, before they were sent to the printer.
Graphic Means, explores graphic design production of the 1950s through the 1990s—from linecaster to photocomposition, and from paste-up to PDF.”

As I’ve mentioned before on this blog, German illustrator Christoph Niemann talks really well about his creative process and he does so again in this great three minute film:
I’m a big fan of the work of illustrator Christoph Niemann. I first encountered his work when I downloaded his Petting Zoo iPad app for my son. He has a playful sense of humour and wonderful way of viewing the world. He also talks about his creative process extremely well. I’d encourage everyone to watch his episode of the fantastic Netflix series Abstract if they can. Below is a 20 minute presentation Niemann gave for Adobe’s 99u Conference on How to Overcome the 3 Fears Every Creative Faces.

Art’bracadabra is a absolutely stunning series of animations by French artist / designer Raphaël Garnier produced for the Pompidou Centre’s web TV channel. The short animations share some of the fundamental elements of visual art starting with the dot and looking at line, form, material, tools, colours and so on. I’d highly recommend watching all 10 episodes on Raphaël’s Vimeo channel.
